Jefferson Parish deputy's office employee fired after thousands of Flock searches on ex-fiancée's plate

The Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office terminated an employee after an internal investigation found he had run a single license plate through the Flock camera system several thousand times over several years. JPSO said it began looking into the matter on Aug. 17 after a media inquiry, and that the employee admitted the searches and identified the plate as belonging to his former fiancée. Sources told WDSU the former employee is Nathan Rome, who also performs as DJ "Bulletproof"; WDSU said he had not responded to a request for comment. The ex-fiancée told investigators she was aware of the searches and asked that no charges be filed and that he keep his job.

Why this matters

The case illustrates how ALPR databases can be queried repeatedly by individual employees over long periods, and raises the question of what auditing exists to catch such patterns before an outside inquiry prompts a review.
